Storm Shooting

So, in case you didn't know, I like taking pictures! I know you're surprised.  I like shooting a lot of different things, animals, kids, and sports are my favorite.  Shooting candid, it's what I prefer and what I feel I'm better at anyway.  One shot I've been wanting to get is a cool lightning shot.  Now I realize this is a shot I'm probably always going to want to matter how many times I get to shoot storms because I'm the one that will always be thinking 'But this storm is different! The lightning will be different! What can I get this time?!'  So, yes the weather has been a little miserable but with all the humidity it's been producing some storms. I'm sure there's plenty of literature with tips and aperture and shutter settings that will tell me exactly what to do to get "that" picture, but honestly I've been enjoying myself experimenting a little with different settings, and been getting some cool results. Like this shot that I got a couple weeks ago ^.  My first decent shot of lightning, but I wanted more ...
Last night the sky was glowing most of the night, not many bolts of lightning but still got a couple shots that were neat.

So I played with my exposures got a few different results.  When the storm got a bit more severe things got exciting.  Still played with exposure a little but I caught a couple bolts and boy was it a rush :)

I'm not used to just holding down the shutter when I shoot but you've got to adapt to your subject sometimes.

Even though I was up until 2am it really didn't matter.  Was so glad I was awake, had a dry place to take cover, and was able to shoot through the storm.  Though I got some cool looking results, I'm ready for the next storm to see what else I can get!
Cheers :)
