Morning Mist

I've learned over the years that photographers are a different breed of people.  Strange things can make us really happy!  Well this morning when my original plans for the day changed I was suddenly left with a free morning and when I looked outside I discovered it was nice and foggy (and I didn't have to get up before the sun to take pictures of it! Happy day!!)  It's a silly thing that photographers enjoy, I don't know why! Kind of like how old, rusty, falling apart, junk can just make our day!  Disagree with me if you want but, to most photographers I know, that's a gold mine!    :)  Anyway, here are a few shots from my morning!

ABC Indy Car

Every year the ABC Supply Indy Car makes a stop at the Bozrah store, thanks to the heads up from my Dad, I stopped by this afternoon to see it  :)

 The guy told me I could jump in so I did. It was snug and I was a little too short to really reach the pedals well, then my flip flop almost fell off when I was getting out  :p   It was cool though!!

Zoo

Okay, I've been trying for about 2 months to go to the zoo, but my day off always got booked up or the weather would throw a hurricane at me.  Thankfully today was beautiful and I had a very enjoyable day!!  I thought about it as I was driving to Rhode Island, the last time I had been to the zoo was my junior year of high school ... in 2002!!  It's a little different then I remember, like I had taken a cool picture of a polar bear the last time I was there, and now there are harbor seals instead.  There are still giraffes, which makes me very happy, and I fell in love with the little red pandas, wish I could take them home!!  Anyway, here are a few pics, for the rest click on the link to the album at the end  :)

NLPD vs NLFD 9-11-11

What better way to celebrate such a patriotic day then with America's favorite past time? The New London Police Department played against the New London Fire Department. It was a beautiful day and a great game!! The Police managed to pull out the win in the bottom of the 9th!! Yay!! Go NLPD!!!

Goshen Fair

Got out to the Goshen Fair this weekend with some family :) Thankfully the weather held out and we had a really nice afternoon! Here are some pictures from the fair:

Hurricane Irene ... The Way I Saw It ...

Power went out nice and early Sunday morning because of the hurricane and almost a week later it's finally back on so I can post a few pictures of the storm   :)

Our Prep Before The Storm:

My Dad got this brilliant idea to put his truck on mom's side of the garage and to put mom's and
 my cars both on his side. Honestly I didn't think they'd fit . . . It was close but we did it. 
Didn't realize my car was that small . . . or Dad's garage was that big . . . :)

Irene Is Here!

Carter came to check on me in the morning . . . and check on the storm

During an intense game of Clue . . .

. . . we lost a big portion of a tree in the side yard.  On the bright side we should be
able to play volleyball a little better now  :)

Darline and Carter were on the look out for more falling trees  ;)

When it calmed down a little bit I had to go out and check things out!!

Looking down the street . . . all seems well

And I had to go puddle jumping  :)

The Next Day:

Lots of trees were down and roads blocked

But it was a beautiful day  :)

We got right to cleaning up . . .

. . . and about 2 1/2 hours later that big tree was in the wood pile  :)

Hopefully everything will be back to normal now   :)
